I know a certain 11 month old who is almost walking!
He stands firmly and cruises easily, and has even taken two to three steps here and there, but as soon as he realizes what’s happening, he squats to sit. Like he’s thinking ”Note to self: Cut out this walking business before they stop picking you up!”
So either he can do it on his own and is choosing not to or he really is taking his time, but either way we’re not pushing him. Some people have made it a point to bring it to my attention that their child was walking at this age and speaking and that age, oh and lets not forget that they wrote their first novel alllll before their second birthday.
And to them I say that that’s fan-freakin’-tastic for you, but we think Aiman is doing an abosultely amazing and wonderful job at his own pace. So please, stuff it.
But still, good for you! *smile*
There’s also something else I’ve been meaning to talk about, but ignore for the most part because it makes me a little nauseous to think about it. But it’s the elephant in the room.
Today is what? The 20th of November? So that makes it about three weeks until the same certain 11 month old turns into a 12 month old.
He’s almost a one year old!
A whole year will have gone by in three weeks.
A whole year since my life has evolved, transformed, enriched, experienced the purest of love, and the beginning of something cherished for the rest of my life.
My sweet baby boy is going to be a year old in three weeks.
IN THREE WEEKS!?
How is all of this happening so fast? I mean, this time last year I was incrediably bloated and uncomfortable, but happy and eager. Then BAM! Now a whole year later and ….just wow.
We’re still thinking about what to do for the big day and definitely want to make it special, so we’re still brainstorming. In the meantime we’re just enjoying the last few weeks of his infancy before he walks into toddler-hood (pun intended) and starts this new prodigious stage in his life. And ours.
Oh baby boy, this walking milestone coupled with your birthday is a bit too much for mama. Exciting, yes, but still happening faster than I’m willing to accept.
